Songwriter and guitarist Gary Shepherd will share his guitar skills in a workshop hosted by Folk Redlands to be held at its new venue, at the Redlands Modern Country Music club from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday, February 17.
Folk Redlands’ regular base at Indigiscapes is undergoing renovations so the club will hold its monthly performances at 226 Cleveland Redland Bay Road as a temporary accommodation.
Shepherd is best known for intricate fingerstyle guitar playing, clawhammer banjo, and easy-going and humorous onstage banter. He has produced many instructional guitar DVDs and has vast experience across many musical styles including country, blues and folk, instrumental and pop.
The event will commence with a one- hour blackboard session where performers are invited to share a few songs on a first in basis.
Entry is $3 for members and $5 for non members. Folk Redlands membership is $5 per year.
Folk Redlands is a not for profit club with a focus on bringing people together through music. Regular events are held on the third Sunday of the month.
Many eminent Australian and international artists have performed at Folk Redlands events, including Colum Sands, Shane Howard, Damian Howard, Neil Murray, John Schumann and the Bushwhackers.
