As founder and principal/CEO of Sheldon College, every day Dr Lyn Bishop OAM has the opportunity to visit Wonderland.
This is the College’s Early Learning Centre, which caters for children from 15 months through to five years of age.
Dr Bishop said it is like stepping into a magical kingdom, as one has the opportunity to observe first hand the incredible benefits of a quality early learning program.
Early learning sets the platform for what is to follow. It builds the foundation for future learning.
“Throughout these first five years, significant brain development takes place and our beautiful children learn how to share, co-operate, take turns, listen, gain self-confidence, form relationships with their peers and build resilience in a safe environment characterised by the 3L’s of teaching - Love, Laughter and Learning,” Dr Bishop said.
Quality early learning programs also have an incredible impact on life outcomes and assist in developing the social, emotional and cognitive skills young people need for the future.
But let’s not forget the secret ingredient – that of high quality early childhood trained teachers.
All teachers at Wonderland are highly skilled and dedicated to their profession.
“These are teachers who love what they do and know they touch the future with our young people,” said Dr Bishop. “Being in this profession reinforces for me daily that children in quality Early Learning Centres can fly higher than an eagle, but first-class quality educators are the ‘wind beneath their wings’.”
