When seeking a personalised funeral service, many families these days are looking for ways to celebrate their loved ones in a more unique and tailored way.
There is a trend where families are moving away from traditional funeral services, according to McCartney Family Funerals director Lea-anne McCartney.
“Being a family business means that we can get as excited as our families by finding the most appropriate venue and not be bound to crematoriums or churches that may not be the right fit for a life celebration,” she said. “This allows us as funeral professionals and as a family funeral home, to provide a personal and attentive service that delivers a beautiful and meaningful celebration of life.”
Lea-anne and funeral director/celebrant Bryan McCartney began McCartney Family Funerals in 2018 to provide an ethical and honest family based service.
Lea-anne had been in the funeral industry for more than 20 years and Bryan was a well respected and highly sought after funeral celebrant for five years, while also working as a funeral director and mortician.
Both mother and son decided that it was time to offer the people of the Redlands an alternative that was completely family focused and from a place of love, care and compassion.
The Cleveland based business offers a more affordable funeral option with exceptional service and immeasurable levels of family care.
“Doing business with us is personal, and we pride ourselves on providing a service like no other funeral home in Brisbane,” Lea-anne said. “Our family care for our deceased just like they were part of our family, because they really are.”

Since opening last year, the need for additional staff came much quicker than expected and the business now has a team of eight people who work in a variety of supporting roles.
Lea-anne said the team shares common values of compassion, care, dignity, respect and fairness, and each has a passion in a different area of the funeral industry.
McCartney Family Funerals offers funeral services (burials and cremations), memorial services, pre-arranged funeral packages as well as ongoing support following a funeral service and also provides an annual Secondary School Scholarship.
The business has a dedicated community engagement officer who works with a range of local organisations that provide support to bereaved families, families affected by suicide and grief support groups.
“There is such a special atmosphere in the Redlands area, we have…..more than 60 years connected to this amazing part of the world.”
