THE Cleveland Scout Group has installed a temporary building at its Ormiston site in preparation for the construction of its new hall.
It comes nearly a year after the old hall was destroyed by fire in March 2018.
The fire destroyed the 75-year-old building, causing many Cleveland scouts to be relocated to other venues and groups.
It also left other community groups that used the facility without a home.
“It’s been a very difficult time for the Cleveland Scout Group but throughout it all we have managed to continue our important activities for local families,” Cleveland Scout Group leader Andy Hall said.
“We are so grateful to the wider community for their generosity in helping us through this time.”
A Cleveland Scout Group spokesperson said tenders would shortly be called for the construction of the new permanent building, which was expected to be finished by mid-August.
Concept images for the new hall have been published on the Cleveland Scouts website at clevelandscouts.org.au/.
“We’re now well and truly open for business and will be pleased to welcome local children and young people into the scouting family,” Mr Hall said.
