Redlands Tigers hit form in the penultimate round of the two-day season as the ladies secured their spot in next weekend’s semi finals.

First grade dismissed Toombul for just 74 to give their finals hopes a boost heading into the final round of two-day fixtures.
James Bazley led the way from the outset, claiming three wickets as he and Jamie Ryan (3/15) combined to take the first five Toombul wickets for just 16 runs. Redlands had another crack at the visitors in the evening session after skipper Leigh Drennan enforced the follow on. Bazley capped off a fantastic day with figures of 3/34 as Toombul posted 5/188 at stumps. Second grade comfortably defeated the same opposition away from home. Toombul were dismissed for 220.
Redlands batted for a further 16 overs in the afternoon session and finished the day 2/100, with openers Michael McEwan (53) and Jesse Burns (22) cashing in on a weary Toombul attack. Third grade returned to winning ways with a tight victory on Fred Kratzmann Oval. The Tigers were dismissed early on day two for a competitive 275, with Trent Conwell finishing the innings unbeaten on 92. Toombul were dismissed for 265 in reply as the game went down to the wire.
James Vidal and Alex Ward led the wicket takers’ column with 4/73 and 3/36 respectively.
Fourth grade took a 120 run lead into the second innings after debutant Brayden Laffan (34), Wayne Todman (33), Jack Robinson (30*) and Pearce Anderson (19*) saw the Tigers through to 5/266.
A declaration shortly before tea allowed the Tigers to take their first wicket of the innings and enter the break with the ascendency.
The Tigers continued to take wickets at regular intervals throughout the afternoon session as they went within three wickets of outright points. Jack Robinson (2/32) and Wayne Todman (2/25) topped the wicket takers’ list in the second innings.
Fifth grade played out a close encounter with Wynnum-Manly on Ron Field Oval. The Tigers looked in a good position for much of the innings as five of the top six Wynnum batsmen departed without reaching double figures. But just as they found themselves in the ascendency, a late order partnership saw the visitors over the line.
Rob Ballarino (3/28) and Chris Barker (3/52) were the best with the ball. The Tigers were 3/128 in their second innings when stumps were called. Sixth grade one triumphed in a classic away from home against Toombul. With just 5 overs left in the day, Redlands took the final wicket to dismiss the opposition for 293. Jamie Daniels and Carter Pearson toiled hard on a good batting wicket to finish with three wickets apiece.
Sam Geyer and Ben Lockwood also chimed in with two crucial wickets each to help Redlands keep their season alive.
Sixth grade two drew with South Brisbane in another cracker on Peter Burge Oval.
Dismissed for 222 early on the second day, Redlands had the opposition in a spot of bother at 3/43.
South Brisbane recovered quickly through some middle order partnerships before the Tigers took the upper hand again through the bowling of Shane Beu (3/20).
The Tigers fought hard throughout the evening session but could only manage eight wickets as the visitors saw out the day with 183 runs in the bank.
Wes Aspeling also turned back the clock in an 18 over spell that yielded 3/30.
The Redlands Tigers ladies side is through to next weekends semi-finals courtesy of a five wicket win away from home.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Tigers piled on 234 runs through the batting of Delyse Laycock (73*), Clodagh Ryall (50) and Denise Sanders (40).
The bowlers then completed the job, dismissing Western Suburbs for just 85.
Jess Sanders, Keeley Richards, Delyse Laycock and Anureet Kanda took two wickets each.
