The Redland Tigers endured a difficult opening day in a number of grades as the race to finals enters the home stretch.
First grade will need to fight back from a 110-run deficit when they return to Bill Pippen Oval next weekend.
After losing the toss to Gold Coast and being sent into bat first, the Tigers were dismissed for 70.
In reply the opposition declared at 5/199, with James Bazley (2/60) again leading the way with the ball.
Redlands will resume its second innings at 0/19 next weekend after Liam Smith (13*) and Steven Moss (6*) negotiated a tricky 13 over period before stumps unscathed.
Second grade dismissed Gold Coast for 274 and are 1/30 in reply heading into day two.
Ben Long (4/88) and Josh Fraser (3/58) were the standouts with the ball.
Third grade is in a difficult position in their clash with Gold Coast away from home.
Luke Hagel (3/48) and Matt Dwyer (3/39) helped dismiss the home side for a below par 132, but that total was made to look more formidable when the Tigers lost 4/10 to start the run chase.
Bailey Lavender (14*) and skipper Sam Ward (15*) steadied the ship thereafter and will resume at 4/38 next weekend.
Fourth grade is locked in a tight battle against the same opposition on Fred Kratzmann Oval.
The Tigers made the most of their decision to bowl first, dismissing the opposition for 139 through the bowling of Pearce Anderson (5/52) and Jordan Crick (2/21).
Craig Holdsworth battled through some tight bowling early in the run chase to top score with 44 as the Tigers entered stumps at 5/103.
A spritely innings of 28 from Keegan McClean during the evening session also helped the Tigers edge ahead at the close.
Fifth grade is 5/67 in reply to Sandgate-Redcliffe’s 111 in a match that will make or break their season.
Jason Hill was outstanding with the ball after the Tigers were sent into bowl first, claiming 4/24 from 17 overs.
Ravin Wijeyeratne also chimed in with three scalps to help restrict the visitors to a modest total.
Sixth grade one requires 65 runs for victory in its clash with Valley, but will need to do it with just five wickets in the shed following a shaky start to the run chase.
The Tigers are currently 5/38 in reply to the home side’s 99, with Jarvis Cleary (13*) the only man to make any headway in the chase so far.
Jamie Daniels (4/22) and Keshavkeerthi Chandrasekaran (3/35) were the best with the ball on a mixed opening day for Redlands, who are playing for a finals spot next weekend.
Sixth grade two requires 209 runs for first innings points against Northern Suburbs away from home.
The Tigers were staring down the barrel of a big first innings total before Jay Kildey stepped up to claim 5/5.
Norths declared with the score on 209, allowing Redlands to knock off 55 of the runs required for victory in the short period before stumps.
The Redlands ladies side went down in a tight semi final clash against Sandgate-Redcliffe away from home.
The Tigers fought hard to the end, falling just 14 runs short of a second grand final birth in as many years.
The game ebbed and flowed to the finish courtesy of some fantastic batting from the Tigers’ top order.
Jesica Pang (46), Hannah McLaughlin (52) and Clodagh Ryall (29) all contributed as the Tigers were held to 199.
