CAPALABA Tactical Crime Squad officer Sergeant Patrick Bates has been recognised for his work in the fight against drugs.
At a Queensland Police awards ceremony, Sergeant Bates was awarded the prestigious Queensland Police Exemplary Conduct Medal for his commitment and dedication to the initiation and ongoing fight against drugs in the Redlands.
The medal is awarded to officers who demonstrate exemplary conduct in a specific role or duty which enhances the professional image of the Queensland Police Service exceeding what might be reasonably expected from an efficient member.
Sergeant Bates commenced duty at the Capalaba Tactical Crime Squad in 2008 has initiated, led and investigated complex drug investigations in the Redlands, along with other TCS members.
These investigations included multiple offenders who were trafficking, producing and supplying drugs including methylamphetamine and cannabis.
In 2015, Sergeant Bates was named Redlands' top officer the Rotary Vocational and Police Officer of the Year awards.
Senior Sergeant Warren Piket said Sergeant Bates was a proven outstanding leader and had consistently demonstrated his commitment to action over this time.
"The results of these operations have continued to cause a major disruption to the supply and distribution of dangerous drugs within our local community," he said.
