UPDATE 1pm:
POLICE are hunting for a person who brazenly tried to steal a boat and trailer from the front of a Victoria Point home earlier today.
Bayside criminal investigation branch Senior Sergeant Chris Lafferty said anyone with dash cam footage or witnesses were urged to contact police.
"We are interested to speak to anyone who could assist us," he said.
Senior Sergeant Lafferty said a pedestrian - a woman, believed to be aged in her 60s - was hurt in the incident.
She was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition with head injuries and soft tissue damage by paramedics.
Senior Sergeant Lafferty said a stolen dark-coloured vehicle had been used in the attempted boat steal at Point O'Halloran Road, near the Orana Street intersection.
The offender had hooked a tinnie on a trailer to the stolen car before being confronted by the owner about 8.30am.
"An altercation has occurred," Senior Sergeant Lafferty said.
"The offender has tried to flee with the stolen boat and trailer attached, driving erratically."
Senior Sergeant Lafferty said the stolen vehicle then struck cars and was driven into a front yard.
The boat had slid off the trailer during the incident.
"The offending vehicle left after boat came off trailer," Senior Sergeant Lafferty said.
Police dispatched a helicopter earlier today to help search for the offender.
A sign has been placed in the area by police appealing to witnesses for information.
Those with information can contact Bayside CIB on 3824 9355 or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
