A STATE government Easter Road Safety Campaign is in full swing with police targeting busier roadways.
Redlands MP Kim Richards said the campaign was crucial in keeping our roads safe during the holiday season.
"This Easter, drivers and families will see a higher presence of police on the road network," she said.
"A visible police presence provides community reassurance and deters drivers who engage in risky behaviour.
"A lot of people travel around the state during the Easter break and it's important that they make it safely home."
The campaign highlights the fatal five - speeding, drink/drug fatigue, seat belt use and driver distractions like using mobile phones to text or call.
Capalaba MP Don Brown said campaign was a good reminder of how everyone needed to be aware of what drivers should and should not do.
"It is always important to be aware of these fatal signs while driving," he said.
"I encourage everyone on the roads this Easter to go online and read more about the Fatal Five signs before they get behind the wheel."
The campaign runs to April 26 and will involve police operations across the state.
"I thank our hard-working police officers who will be out on our roads this Easter to keep communities safe," he said.
