CANCER Council Queensland's Redlands volunteer branch is inviting locals to spoil their loved ones with tea, scones and other goodies at two morning tea events.
Two local events will be hosted by the branch in May as part of Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, a nation-wide Cancer Council fundraising event.
In the week leading up to Mother's Day, Renaissance Retirement Living will host a morning tea to celebrate local mums.
As well as a spread of sweet and savoury treats, the morning tea will feature raffles, lucky door prizes and market stalls and live entertainment from Kelly Manche and Andrew Carins.
Another morning tea will be hosted at the Courthouse Restaurant in Cleveland on May 23.
Redlands branch president Tish Henderson said morning teas had been held at the Courthouse Restaurant for more than 20 years and had gathered a loyal base of supporters.
"They have always been very successful and well attended and we often get told by our supporters that they don't know how we do it, but the morning teas and lunches get better every time," she said.
The official date for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is May 23, but individuals and organisations can host events any day in May or June.
Ms Henderson said the branch held at least two events for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea each year, which contributed to annual fundraising efforts.
The Redlands volunteer branch won the 2018 CancerFREE challenge, raising $117,000 throughout the year.
Ms Henderson said the 2019 target was $130,000.
Two events hosted by the branch last year attracted nearly 300 attendees and raised about $9000.
