POLICE are investigating graffiti scrawled onto an election sign belonging to federal MP Andrew Laming.

The sign, parked on a trailer on Wellington Street, Thornlands, had swastikas drawn on it and Mr Laming was given an toothbrush-style moustache.
A Cleveland police spokesperson said the complaint was under investigation.
Mr Laming said he saw the graffiti about 6.30am on Friday after being told about it at 5am.
"Given the nature of the graffiti, I cleaned the skins before the paint had dried," he said.
An election poster promoting Mr Laming, posted on a traffic signal box, had also been defaced with Nazi-style vandalism but has since been removed.
Meanwhile, Greens candidate for Bowman Emerald Moon says Redland residents have complained to her of signs put up outside houses without permission.
She said some residents had been told the signs were on public land and the resident's permission was not required.
Ms Moon said residents should know their rights about the placement of signs.
"If it's on your fence or lawn and you weren't asked first, there's a problem," Ms Moon said.
"It's totally up to you whose sign you want to display, if any."
According to Redland City Council's website, election signs on road reserves or council land must be manned, not create a traffic or pedestrian hazard and consist of no more than four signs within six metres of an information booth.
Booths are not permitted on median strips or roundabouts, or within close proximity to intersections.
