A gala fund raising event held at the Grand View Hotel on May 23 has helped orbit a short film production, due to be filmed in July.
The event introduced the cast of 5 Moons of Pluto garnered support and funding for Cleveland Film Company and its various projects.
Writer/director Bradford Walton said the company was a pioneer for the area, "beating a path not beaten before".
He bowed to Leona Kyling whose statue sits on Kyling corner at Cleveland who was also a film maker.
"I admire her enrepreneurial spirit," he said.
The company has various "planets in its system" including producing pilots for potential series, mentoring production, screenwriting and directing students, encouraging the use of the Redlands as a location and ultimately creating a production centre and setting a gold star standard for community film production.
"I want to produce movies in our own voice. You need to know how to tell a good story and we want to do that with world class production. Our motto is to film locally and screen globally," Mr Walton said.
Cr Peter Mitchell said he embraced the uniqueness of the company, saying he believed it would build tourism and stamp the Redlands as a film friendly destination.
"I like the ideals of the company. It epitomises small and community based business. You can't help but be energised by the enthusiasm, effort and vision," he said.
Macleay Island actress Val Lehman of Prisoner fame attended the event, saying she was thrilled and delighted with the company.
"Did you know that Australia had the first commercial film industry in the world?" she said.
