Catherine Ramsey has her sights set on a career as a solo artist after performing in several key Brisbane entertainment events over the last 18 months.
Since joining the Vocal Manoeuvres Academy, Catherine has sung at the Lord Mayor's seniors Christmas parties, Lord Mayor's Christmas carols, Memorial at Brisbane Festival, Redlands' Christmas by Starlight and the Channel 9 telethon. In May, she was among those singers performing with Mirusia at Twin Towns for the Seekers' 50th anniversary salute.
Catherine's mother Jennifer said she joined Vocal Manoeuvres as a means of overcoming shyness with strangers.
"I noticed Catherine was quiet at the dining table, mumbled in the car, and sang in the shower. I saw an auditions notice for the Lord Mayors Christmas carols, gave Catherine three days to practice and took her along to the academy. Fast forward to now and she can sing on stage and speak with confidence," Ms Ramsey said.
Catherine, 14, of Ormiston will be among the hundreds of students to perform with Creative Generations being performed at Brisbane Convention Centre on July 19 and 20.
Mirusia and the Original Seekers will be at QPAC at 3pm on October 13. Mirusia will perform with Athol Guy, Keith Potger and Bruce Woodley. Tickets are from $89.90 to $119.90 and can be booked on 136 246.
