POLICE issued infringement notices for a wide range of traffic offences on Russell Island last month but drug-driving tests on the island on the weekend yielded no positive results.
Russell Island police office-in-charge Sergeant Tim McKinney said officers from Capalaba Road Policing Unit and Capalaba Tactical Crime Squad had performed drug testing on motorists on the weekend but no one had been charged.
The Road Policing Unit had also been on the island on June 13, issuing several infringement notices for a wide range of traffic offences.
Police charged a 63-year-old Russell Island man with possession of cannabis at the island jetty on June 29. He will appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on August 1.
On June 10, police charged a 42-year-old Russell Island man with serious obstruction of police.
He is to appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on July 16.
A 52-year-old Russell Island woman was issued with an infringement notice for public nuisance after an incident at a shopping centre on the island on June 14.
Another infringement notice, also for public nuisance, was issued to a 40-year-old Russell Island man after an incident on Canaipa Point Drive on June 26.
A boat stolen from the Russell Island jetty on June 2 was located off Stradbroke Island on June 17.
