THE REDLANDS community can get into the Ekka spirit early with St Anthony's Catholic Primary School fete on Saturday, July 27.
Featuring rides, stalls, raffles and a visit from police and fire services, the fete will raise funds for school resources and infrastructure.
St Anthony's principal Martyn Savage said the fete would put the school's spirit on show.
"It is our biggest event of the year," he said. "There is a positive atmosphere and it is always well attended.
"It is an important fundraiser but it also builds community and I think it does that really effectively.
"In previous years we have raised more than $45,000, which has ensured we can continue to provide a high standard of education for our children."
Mr Savage said the school's parent body would use money raised at the fete for building projects and refurbishments.
"One of the things we're looking at this year is some athletics improvements such as our long jump pit and tennis courts," he said.
"Funds will also go towards reading resources and the infrastructure within our library as well as IT resources that the students can access."
Mr Savage said the parents and friends association would coordinate the event with the backing of school staff.
The fete will run from 10am to 3pm and has a sixties beach theme.
The school is located at St Anthony's Drive, Alexandra Hills.
