AN APPRENTICESHIP at Cleveland's Energex depot is up for grabs as the company starts its latest apprentice recruitment campaign across south-east Queensland.
The recruits would join Energex early next year.
Energex Brisbane area manager Kevin Lavender said Energex apprenticeships were highly sought after as successful candidates learned a trade in a rapidly evolving industry.
"With technological developments such as affordable home solar, battery storage and, more broadly, the community's uptake of emerging smart home management systems and electric vehicles, there's been no better time to gain a trade in the power industry," Mr Lavender said.
"And to gain a job with Energex, which is part of the country's largest power distribution company Energy Queensland, means those learning a trade will be working on cutting edge technology with some of the world's best technicians."
Mr Lavender said that Energex apprenticeships were more than just jobs and working for the electricity distributor required a commitment to the community.
"When you work at Energex you quickly realise that everything you do is to ensure the lights stay on for the people of south-east Queensland," he said.
"Our apprentices are out there every day acquiring new skills and working to ensure the community has a safe and reliable power supply to their property."
Mr Lavender said that during summer storms or natural disasters apprentices were out with teams restoring power around the clock.
People of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to apply via energex.com.au/apprenticeships.
Applications close at 10pm on August 5.
