A Queensland mother has suffered a punctured lung, five broken ribs and a serious knee infection after her motorbike crashed into a brick wall at Bali last week.
Courtesy bus driver and Jimboomba Netball volunteer Corrine Kitson was in a serious condition and lost consciousness following the accident on Wednesday, July 24.
She was overseas celebrating her friend's 50th birthday.
Ms Kitson recovered to be in stable condition and underwent surgery to prevent excess blood from filling into her lungs.
Ms Kitson's family spent $8500 to cover surgical and hospital costs which will be back paid following the approval of Ms Kitson's travel insurance claim today.
Daughter, Nicole Kitson, said the family's first priority was to get Ms Kitson home as soon as possible for further medical care.
"Mum is in good spirits but she is scared and just wants to get home," she said.
"It is looking like it will cost $15,000 to $20,000 to fly her home as she will need a private plane and needs to be stretchered."
The family have launched a GoFundMe page which has raised $4300 toward Ms Kitson's medical and travel expenses.
Nicole said the family were grateful for the community's support.
"It is a big relief for our family as we are quite small," she said.
"(Corrine) is a single mother and it is good for her to know she is supported and that everyone has come on board.
"When I told mum about some of the messages she received she broke down in tears.
"She has been volunteering for many years so it is good to know people support her."
The family has warned everyone travelling overseas to ensure they invest in adequate travel insurance.
