Plenty of activities for an exciting week
IT'S Seniors Week from August 17 - 25 which aims to provide opportunities to promote positive community attitudes towards older people and ageing.
And with more than 26,000 people age 65 and over in the Redlands area, Seniors Week is a major event.
Seniors Week provides opportunities to promote positive community attitudes towards older people and ageing, facilitate community participation and enhance community connections.
This aligns with the Queensland Government and Council on the Ageing (COTA) Queensland's vision of building age-friendly communities in Queensland.
COTA Queensland coordinates Seniors Week on behalf of the Queensland Government and receives funding to collaboratively plan, run and subsidise events and activities.
'"Older people are as diverse as the broad range of events and activities provided by a wide range of organisations who are recognising and acknowledging the importance of their older community members and the Redlands is certainly not shy of events and activities," said COTA Queensland Seniors Week Coordinator Lisa Hodgkinson.
This year festivities have been extended from Wednesday, August 7 through until Friday, August 30.
"From musicals and concerts, to time with the grandchildren. Morning teas and open days, golf, indoor bowls and the annual 10 kilometre walk - there certainly is a range of events and activities for people to explore."
