Budding vocalists are invited to enter the 16th annual vocal competition being staged by the Redlands Sporting Club from September 16.
The competition which was once exclusively available to Redland vocalists has been opened up to include singers throughout Brisbane.
Coordinator and Redlands Sporting Club marketing manager Doreen Thomas said she believed the competition's success was due not only to the quality of the vocalists, but also of the judges.
"These judges are willing to give freely of their valuable time to participate in the heats, semi-finals and finals and encourage the amazing talent who compete each year, by giving constructive feedback at the end of each heat," she said.
Heats run on September 16 and 17 for juniors aged 12 years and under, on September 23 and 24 for intermediate singers aged 13 to 16 and on September 30 and October 1 for seniors aged over 17 years. Heats run from 7pm to 9pm with about 15 competitors per heat.
The semi finals will be held from 2pm to 5pm on October 12 with the finals on October 19.
Entry is $5 with forms available through marketing@rsc.asn.au and at the club at Anson Road, Wellington Point. Two songs should be prepared for the finals which will be recorded and livestreamed on facebook and played on BayFM radio.
The competition attracts a prize pool of $1500 spread across first and second winners of each category.
