POLICE will remind road users about how to make the community safer and reduce trauma on the street during Queensland Road Safety Week.
The state-wide campaign runs from Monday, August 26 to Friday, August 30.
Redland Bay police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Steve Graham said police would be involved in enforcement, engaging with people and educating about road safety
"Police from Redland Bay division will be among those out and about to detect offences being committed by drivers relating to the 'fatal five' - drink- and drug-driving, seatbelts, fatigue, speeding and driving well distracted - as part of a state-wide government initiative," Senior Sergeant Graham said.
"The purpose of Road Safety Week is to make all road users think about their responsibilities with a view to making the community safer and reducing trauma on our roads, not just for the week but all year round."
Coffee with a Cop events will be held at Cleveland, Mount Cotton, Dunwich and Wynnum during the week.
Crime prevention officers, police volunteers and local and road policing officers will be at the events to discuss road safety and traffic issues.
