The region's courses are fast becoming breeding grounds for talented players who dream of turning pro and touring the world on six-figure salaries.
Redland Bay golfer Lilli-J Dunn, who recently became the youngest player to win the Ladies Club Championship at Carbrook Golf Club, is one of those looking to follow in the footsteps of Australia's golfing greats.
The 13-year-old battled strong winds and fast greens to clinch her first ever tournament victory earlier this month and is on track to take her game to the next level.
Lilli-J said she didn't fall in love with golf straight away but quickly found her passion for the sport after receiving coaching at her local club.
"Dad asked me if I wanted to try the cadets at Redland Bay," she said. "I liked it but I wasn't in to it so I came down to Carbrook and their teaching methods were really good."
Lilli-J has stuck with it since and now receives specialist coaching at a high-tech sports centre on the Gold Coast.
She said the mental pressure, which turns many away from the game, was what she enjoyed most.
"Every day the courses are different, they are never the same and it just creates a good challenge," she said.
She will compete in the ladies tiles and junior club championships at Carbrook Golf Club next month.
