REDLANDS Touch Association vice president Rick Lester believes the installation of a representative honour board will inspire his young players to reach the top level.
Lester said the board was installed to pay homage to the club's current and former elite level players while giving the current crop of juniors something to aspire to.
"We have not had one during our 40 years of operation," Lester said.
"Since I became vice president I just thought we needed to acknowledge the history of the club.
"Once I realised how many elite players had come through I thought it was a little bit of a travesty we didn't have one."
Lester said the honour board would help shape the club's culture as new players made their way through the junior system.
"We had an increase in junior teams for season two this year and we have also ramped up our development of junior coaches," Lester said.
"From that we are getting better quality coaches which is leading to better behaviours around the club.
"The vision for putting up an honour board was to get players in the under 10, 12 and 14 age groups to look up and say to themselves 'maybe I will have my name up there one day'.
"I am hoping we will be ordering another board soon because that is a good problem to have."
The introduction of an NRL Touch Premiership has given club players around Australia an opportunity to make a career out of the sport.
Players are selected for NRL clubs, with games played for competition points at professional stadiums.
The Russell brothers, who ply their trade at the Cleveland Showgrounds for Redlands Touch, have been one of the success stories of the new competition.
All three were selected for Australia and have had their names engraved on the honour board.
Lester said the players - Corey, Adam and Brad - volunteered around the club and gave up their time to coach junior teams.
"Their dad has helped out at the club with coaching as Corey came through the ranks and their mum works in our canteen," he said.
Brad and Corey played alongside each other for the Gold Coast Titans this season while Adam represented the Brisbane Broncos.
