The Redland Modern Country Music Club will host its Christmas social with Kevin and the Coffee Cups at its clubhouse, corner Dinwoodie and Cleveland Redland Bay roads, Thornlands from 5pm on December 7.
Kevin and the Coffee Cups comprise two musical couples, Hans and Rowena Braaksma; and Kevin and Dehlia Brown, who began performing together at the club around 2013.
They shared a mutual love for classic songs with prominent harmonies presenting three-part harmonies of the Hollies, Beatles, Searchers, and the Everly Brothers.
The group has performed at the White House Coffee Shop, Victoria Point and appeared in an episode of the Channel Seven program The Great South East featuring the venue. They have also been regulars at the Nerang AllSports Club and performed on the Sea Princess cruise ship during a Hawaii cruise in 2015. In September they returned to Norma O'Hara Murphy's Bony Mountain music festival where they have a loyal following.
Kevin and the Coffee Cups features Hans on rhythm guitar; Rowena on Ukulele; Dehlia on bass guitar and Kevin on lead.
The club social is held on the first Saturday of the month. There is a licensed bar and a free supper served at 8.30pm. Entry is $5 to non members.
