Celebrating Australia Day, The Redland Museum and Mates Theatre Genesis present Daryl Peebles' grassroots comedy Barbecue.
Brimming with quintessential characters and fearless Aussie humour, Barbecue is a delightful insight into what goes on in backyards all over Australia as Lotto-winning, retired truck driver Colin Cooper and his family move from the working class suburb of Bestwood to the ritzy Grand Bay.
Directed by Tereska Hart, Barbecue features a cast of Mates Theatre Genesis regulars and newcomers and crew including assistant director Diana Gogulski, stage manager Ian Munday and James Auld on sound and lighting.
Barbecue continues a 12-year tradition of Australia Day plays at The Redland Museum with Theatre Genesis producing the first Australia Day play at the Redland Museum in 2007.
In 2015, Theatre Genesis merged with MATES and in 2018 the Mt Cotton Group, and is the sole surviving theatre group in Redlands.
Catch evening performances of Barbecue on January 25, 26, 31 and February 1 and 8 for $37 with a traditional barbecue served at 6pm outside under the stars among the gum trees.
Matinee performances are from 1pm on January 27 and February 9 for $27 including Devonshire tea.
