Birkdale residents have gathered to reinforce their disapproval of a McDonald's restaurant in their suburb.
More than 70 residents met with councillors Wendy Boglary and Paul Bishop on Tuesday night to object to the proposed development at Birkdale Fair Shopping Centre.
They said their objections were not related to the restaurant chain itself.
The residents are concerned about the increased traffic the outlet would bring impacting on parking spaces.
The proposal involves removing parking bays, which one resident said would put pressure on traffic flow.
"The increase in traffic will also put pressure on local streets as well as the adjacent shopping centres, and see shoppers parking and walking through traffic choke points," the resident, who did not want to be named, said.
The development application was lodged in October.
The residents group has launched a website for people interested in joining the cause. Visit localaction.com.au for more information and to download a objection form template.
