A free lunch in Cleveland on Monday aims to bring some Christmas cheer to the less fortunate.
The Lunch and Punch event is for homeless and lonely people to come together to enjoy a meal, celebrant-led services and choir performances.
The lunch gets underway at 12pm at George Hartnett Metropolitan Funerals on Russell St.
Location manager Hannah Miley said it was about spreading good tidings in the festive season.
"We feel as part of our role within the community, it's important that we build a relationship with the residents and their families in providing resources and bringing hope, compassion and celebration to the Bayside and Redlands Coast most marginalised and disadvantaged people this Christmas," she said.
Event partners and homelessness charity, Night Ninjas, will also be on hand to help provide ongoing care for those who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or are isolated.
"Homelessness isn't just when you're sleeping on the streets. You can be considered homeless, or at risk of becoming so, if you're sleeping in a car, in a refuge, staying at a mate's place, or any other kind of arrangement that precludes you from having a stable roof over your head," Hannah said.
"It's important to us that the event provides more than a good time and that we are creating real opportunities for attendees to get help and connect with other members of the community. We've partnered with Night Ninjas who can provide ongoing care including counselling services, and attendees will also receive personal care packs containing essential items and support service information."
The event will also be open to the general public to help bring all walks of life together.
"We want to connect the entire community and the day will be fun-filled with lots of Christmas cheer," Hannah said.
"We'll even have the fire department on site with their big red truck and water hose for the kids to enjoy. We hope that the people of Redlands and Bayside will get involved and help support those in need to enjoy the festive season."
