Redland Hospital has welcomed its latest rural generalists, including new bayside resident Chloe Jess.
"I grew up just out of Gladstone in a place called Tannum Sands and I decided I wanted to study medicine, so I moved to Townsville for three years," Dr Jess said.
After a clinical placement at Cairns and rotations at Weipa in the Gulf of Carpentaria and Cloncurry to the south, Dr Jess will bring her experience to Redland Hospital.
"I really enjoyed the variety and being able to care for different types of patients," she said. "You are able to provide greater continuity with patients than if you worked in a major centre which is why I decided I wanted to pursue the rural generalist pathway.
"My first rotation is in general medicine, then I'm off to paediatrics and mental health.
"There has been a lot to take in and I'm already learning lots of new things.
"The team at Redland Hospital has been very welcoming and I'm happy to have moved close by to be part of the local community."
Chloe said she hoped to one day work in Western Australia's north with retrieval services.
"It's such a beautiful part of the world," she said.
