A Queensland Police spokeswoman said it had been reported to police that a dark-coloured sedan had swerved in front of the woman's car, cutting her off and forcing her to stop while she was driving along Shore Street West before 5am.
The passenger of the sedan was reportedly holding an unknown object when they got out of the car and approached the woman, who quickly drove away.
The driver of the sedan followed her for a short time but pulled away when she turned into Middle Street.
Shortly after, the woman flagged down nearby police.
Patrols were conducted in the area but police could not locate the sedan.
The spokeswoman said the incident was possibly linked to a navy blue Mercedes stolen from Alexandra Hills overnight on Sunday.
She said the car had been found on Monday morning at 7.30am at Alexandra Hills.
A 14-year-old Capalaba boy was charged with unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and unlawful use of a motor vehicle, while a 17-year-old boy from Wakerley was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlicensed driving.
It is not suggested the boys were responsible for the carjacking attempt.
