THE LNP has criticised Labor for a chronic shortage of parking at Redland Hospital after the state government missed its deadline on a detailed business case promised in 2018.

LNP Redlands candidate Henry Pike said the parking at Redland Hospital was beyond a joke, while Bowman MP Andrew Laming said the situation was a "shambles looking for a fiasco to shack up with."
It comes 15 months after Health Minister Steven Miles announced a $500,000 detailed business case into a multi-level car-park, saying it would be completed by the end of 2019.
Mr Miles said the business case was now in the final approval process.
Mr Pike said the community wanted to know if the government was serious about investing in the hospital.
"The federal government has $16 million on the table for this project and the ball has been sitting in the state government's court for the best part of a year," he said.
Mr Miles said Labor had a strong record of delivering for Redland Hospital, with an expanded emergency department opened in January and upgrades to the maternity ward.
"These projects have delivered an additional 25 construction jobs, including three apprentices. We've also hired an extra 38 doctors and 154 nurses at Redland Hospital," he said.
In April 2019, Mr Laming announced $16 million in federal funding had been committed to the car park.
But Mr Miles said the funding was for 2021-22 to 2022-23.
"This funding is too late to be of benefit."
South-east Labor MPs Kim Richards, Don Brown, Mick de Brenni and Joan Pease wrote to Mr Miles earlier this month asking him to call on Prime Minister Scott Morrison to bring forward the car park funding, as well as $30 million allocated for hospital redevelopment.
Mr Laming said the funding offers were well into the future because the state had not started planning or applying.
"My payments are simply reimbursements. They don't control when work happens."
He said he had copped criticism from Mr Miles in 2019 for proposing to build a carpark on koala habitat across the road from the hospital, but the land had been left off new state koala mapping.
