UPDATE February 26
THE Cleveland line will be closed between Cleveland and Park Road this weekend as Queensland Rail carries out track maintenance works.
From the about 11.30pm on Friday, February 28 until the last service on Sunday, March 1, tracks will be closed on the Beenleigh, Cleveland and Gold Coast lines. Normal services will resume from the first train on Monday, March 2.
Buses are set to replace trains between Park Road, Cleveland and Yeerongpilly stations.
Queensland Rail has also warned residents of noisy night works between 11pm and 5am from March 2 to 4.
Track resurfacing will be carried out at spots between Buranda and Thorneside stations.
"This work involves the use of loud, heavy machinery, including on-track vehicles and trucks with horns, bright flashing lights and reversing beepers," a Queensland Rail notice said.
"To ensure the safety of staff and our network, it is important that these works are carried out after hours, when a section of the network can be shut down to allow access.
"Work may be subject to change due to operational requirements and weather conditions."
Oodgeroo MP Mark Robinson said the platform at Ormiston station would also be raised.
"At last the disabled, the elderly, parents with prams and small children and the able bodied will all be able to safely exit and enter trains without having to navigate a hazardous gap.
"This is a win for our community which has long called for the work to improve access and safety to their local rail service.
"Queensland Rail has advised that the platform at Ormiston Station will be temporarily closed this Saturday, February 29 and Sunday, March 1 from 6am to 6pm each day so the works can take place."
