COUNCIL will do a city wide review of dog regulations in parks and beaches throughout the Redlands.
This comes after a petition to change legislation at Wellington Point Reserve was brought before council last week. Dogs are allowed on leashes on the beach every weekday, and before 9am and after 4pm on weekends.
Lynden Christophers and a group of Wellington Point residents say dog laws are restrictive and the city is becoming more and more animal unfriendly.
Dog controls, or lack thereof, have been the subject of a heated debate for years with council receiving numerous complaints from residents after dog attacks on people and pets.
Dog off-leash areas are places where dogs can run free, however owners need to control their pets.
- Control your dog - your dog must return to you when called
- Clean up after your dog and dispose of waste
- Check signage and make sure you're within off-leash boundaries
- Close gates in fenced areas
- Make sure your dog does not chase birds and wildlife
- Use the park during opening hours only
- Put your dog back on the leash when leaving an off-leash area.

Redland City has animal control areas where people are prohibited from bringing a dog at any time. Here is a list of places prohibited to dogs at all times.
