A THORNLANDS retirement village is in the running for a prestigious Asia-Pacific award.
Bolton Clarke's Moreton Shores residential aged care community has been named a finalist for Facility of the Year - Ageing in Place at the eighth Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards.
The 120-bed lakeside community was nominated for services supporting wellbeing and community connections, including a community centre with cafe, a cinema, senior-specific gym, children's playground and modern room design supporting independence.
Residents could take part in activities like caring for the site's pet chickens and feeding the turtles in the lake.
"The atmosphere is the best atmosphere I've had since I retired, and that's what I like about it," resident Rusty McWilliam said.
Bolton Clarke is also a finalist in the Innovation of the Year - Product category for its Digital Talking Books, which provide information on different health topics like diabetes and dementia.
