POLICE have charged a 28-year-old Mitchelton man with serious assault of a person over 60.
A 71-year-old man was allegedly attacked and punched in the face in his car at the intersection of Redland Bay and Neuman Road on Monday afternoon.
Police called for witnesses to the assault to come forward and have since arrested a man.
He is due to appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on April 30.

A PENSIONER was allegedly attacked and punched in his car at a busy Capalaba intersection yesterday.
Police are calling for witnesses to come forward after a man was injured during a dispute between two drivers at the intersection of Redland Bay and Neuman Road.
According to police, at about 4pm a 71-year-old man was driving his gunmetal grey VW Amarok dual cab ute to the intersection when he was approached by a couple.

It is alleged that the man and woman were driving a white Kia Cerato.
Police said an argument broke out between the elderly man and the woman as he sat in his vehicle, before her male companion allegedly punched him a number of times through the driver's side window.
The man sustained facial injuries.
Investigators are appealing for any witnesses to the altercation, or anyone who may have dash cam footage from the time of the incident to come forward.
