Given that we live in a world where we are under constant attack from the opinions, attitudes and beliefs of others, it's little wonder that there are times when our own perspectives and beliefs can become somewhat blurred.
World leaders, community representatives, advocates, politicians and elders can all say and do things that appear irrational, confused and off balance but because they occupy positions of power their credibility is artificially inflated.
One person's perception can become another person's reality ... and it's not always a matter of choice.
Leadership is off the leash and common sense simply isn't as common as it was once.
The resultant confusion is a worrying thing and can result in deluded thinking - beliefs that have no evidence in fact; a confused mish-mash; a complete and utter illusion.
Too often the Emperor is running around in a state of undress and all we can do is avert our eyes or, at the very least, try and find a distraction..
But that brings me to an important point.
There are many things that we will encounter throughout life that are completely beyond our control.
We can't, for example, change another person or live their life for them.
As individuals we are ultimately entirely and solely responsible for ourselves ... and it can be a daunting responsibility.
And that's why it's a good idea to make the time to take a few deep breaths, step back from our lives and attitudes and take a close look at what's going on.
Are we being true to ourselves?
Are we being fair to others?
Is there some jumbled or delusional thinking that needs a re-tune?
Ideally there should be some regularity to reassessment.
Above all the process should be honest.
We know ourselves best.
Other people can make suggestions or offer assistance.
Only we can make the change.

Embrace the concept that you are enough.
We all need other people. We need connection.
But there is a danger in becoming reliant on the company of other people or the need for a relationship because without it we feel incomplete.
The drive to be in a relationship comes more from a want than a need and that can result in errors of judgement.
A starting point should always be making a friend of ourselves.
Knowing the who that we are opens to the door to the what and the why.
