AN 18-year-old has been charged after a string of burglaries and break and enters at Capalaba last week.
About 11.20pm on Monday, April 20, police were called to an address on Rhoades Street after reports of a trespasser.
After being confronted by residents, the man ran away.
The dog squad picked up the man's scent and found a number of power tools in the area.
Just after midnight, police were called to Silvara Circuit where an elderly couple were woken when a man allegedly broke into their home.
The couple, aged in their 70s, were self-quarantining.
The couple confronted the man, who again ran away, reportedly taking a sum of money and mobile phones.
A police dog again tracked a scent, leading police to an address on Jeffrey Street where the man was located out of breath and sweating.
Police alleged he claimed to live at the Jeffrey Street address but the occupants denied this.
Cash belonging to the elderly victims was reportedly located on the man and mobile phones were located hidden nearby.
These items were returned to the owners.
Investigations later identified the owners of the power tools, who told police they were taken during two other break and enters close by on Diana Street.
Police alleged the Capalaba teen refused to co-operate or comply during his arrest and subsequent processing.
He faced court last week on charges including burglary, trespassing and obstructing police.
The man has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on May 7.
