REDLAND Bay singer and songwriter Dakota Striplin has released a new song and it has social media swooning.
The 25-year-old Sheldon College graduate recently moved to Nashville, Tennessee in the hope of taking his music international.
However, shortly after arriving in town, the COVID-19 pandemic shut down every meeting and opportunity Mr Striplin had going for him.
In order to support himself financially he started writing personalised songs for people.
See You in Austin was written for and based on the love story of Youtubers Ryan Trahan and Haley Pham. The couple have a combined 6-million YouTube subscribers.
Both Ryan and Haley and their fans fell in love with the song when Mr Striplin played it on an Instagram live talent competition.
The couple reached out to Mr Striplin to use the song as part of their engagement and wedding. Their engagement video along with the song reached 2.2 million views on YouTube in its first three days.
See You In Austin is a classic country love song with elements of contemporary pop that appeal to a wide range of listeners across multiple genres.
The song reached 30,000 streams on Spotify within 24 hours of the song being announced and 100,000 in its first week.
A total of 7000 users have added the song to their personal playlists and an official music video was released on YouTube.
