TWO men were rescued from rough waters on Wednesday evening after their hobie catamaran capsized off the coast of Wellington Point.
Brisbane Marine Rescue operations manager Allan Tennent said crews received a call about 5pm and rescued the men halfway between King and Green islands on dusk.
He said they had sent up a flare after their catamaran was dismasted.
"It is hard to avoid (these) things but people should watch the weather and be prepared if something happens," he said.
"They carried flares on them and so they were the beneficiaries of that."
Mr Tennent said boaties should avoid travelling at dusk unless they needed to be on the water.
"If you have a specific reason and you're going from point A to point B, day time and night time travel doesn't make any difference," he said.
