MORE than 40 Coolnwynpin State School students in grades three to six are preparing a group dance as they set their sights on an appearance in a performing arts television special.
The Creative Generation arena spectacular was cancelled in June due to the coronavirus pandemic but Channel Ten are set to air a one hour special in its place using videos sent in by Queensland schools.
More than 1500 students would normally participate in the professionally produced arena event, which has been held every year since 2005.
Coolnwynpin arts teacher Lisa Rose said rehearsal times were limited but students had been working hard at home to learn the dance in preparation for a recording that would be submitted for television broadcast.
"The students have missed their creative arts experiences this year and I know this is felt around the world," she said.
"It was a priority for me to find alternative ways to share their creativity so we've recorded choir performances to share virtually.
"The Creative Generation television special was a perfect opportunity to bring the students together in dance."
More than 40 Coolnwynpin students put their hand up to participate in the television special.
It will go to air on Saturday, September 19 at midday.
