REDLANDS will soon go national, with a hit US television golf game show to be filmed at Thornlands.
Holey Moley will attract about 100 jobs and features a challenging obstacle golf course with contestants competing to reach the final hole.
The Australian producers of the hit US miniature golf competition television series have chosen a site in South Street near the Redland City Council Animal Shelter for production of its first Australian series.
Redlands mayor Karen Williams said Eureka Productions' choice of location for the family friendly program would pave the way for a raft of benefits to the Redlands community.
"Eureka's decision to film Holey Moley on location here is tremendously exciting and will prove a massive win for Redlands Coast businesses, residents and the community, with benefits that will multiply for potential new series and international franchising.
"Production of the first Australian series will generate more than 100 local jobs and see significant local economic benefit, of around $20 million, and through opportunities for the construction and tourism industry sectors including accommodation providers, to local suppliers including landscaping, security, catering and more," she said.
Holey Moley will see mini-golf lovers from around Australia competing head-to-head on an obstacle golf course as they face putting and physical challenges while they attempt to complete the course and reach the daunting final hole.
"Eureka's offer of a free-of-charge and family-friendly experience as an audience member is one that I'm sure many Redlands Coast residents will be keen to take up," Cr Williams said.
She said the community would also benefit socially, as Eureka had planned for COVID-safe audiences on each filming day.
Eureka Productions co-chief executive Paul Franklin said it was an honour to bring one of the world's biggest reality shows to the Redlands.
"Holey Moley is mini golf like you have never seen before, a combination of great putting, big hits and crazy comedy, all in the name of fun filled family entertainment. Eureka Productions looks forward to working in partnership with Redland City Council and the local community to bring this Seven Network show to life."
Holey Moley is scheduled to commence filming soon and will go to air on Channel 7 in 2021.
