UPDATED 5.30PM:
SUPERCELL storm development is slightly easing, although severe storms remain, especially on Brisbane's northside and towards the Sunshine Coast.
A warning remains in place for Cherbourg, Sunshine Coast, Noosa and parts of Gympie, Somerset, Scenic Rim, South Burnett, Gold Coast, Redlands, Brisbane and Moreton Bay Council Areas.
UPDATED 4.10PM:
People in south-east Queensland are being warned to prepare for more dangerous storms as a series of violent squalls roll over the region this afternoon and tonight.
Storms are hitting heavily populated communities of south-east Queensland from Wide Bay to the New South Wales border.
There have been reports of hail in excess of 12 centimetres this afternoon.
The Weather Bureau warns that more storms are rolling through and people should expect them to bring hail in excess of 10 centimetres.
Areas likely to be hit hardest stretch from the border to north of the Sunshine Coast and into communities further inland.
The bureau is warning the situation is volatile and continues to change quickly.
Some of these storms can literally form in minutes and are fast moving, so people should keep off the roads and stay inside.
The threat for the south-east will continue through this afternoon and into tonight.

UPDATED 2.35PM:
An emergency alert has been issued for Lockyer Valley, Ipswich, Laidley, Jimboomba and Amberley by the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services.
QFES says damage could occur in these areas from the severe thunderstorms passing through.
Residents should monitor local radio and visit bom.gov.au for more information.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been reissued for people in Ipswich, Logan, Lockyer Valley and parts of Somerset, Scenic Rim, Toowoomba, Gold Coast and Brisbane council areas.
Damaging locally destructive winds, large, "possibly giant hailstones" and heavy rain, says Weather Bureau forecasters.
Radar is showing black, the heaviest storm conditions, as storms sweep through the Scenic Rim and Logan.
So far they appear to be skirting Redlands.

WEATHER Bureau forecasters have warned of severe storms passing through the south-east at Ipswich and parts of Logan, Somerset, Scenic Rim, Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley and Gold Coast council areas.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 12.20 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near the area between Boonah and Beaudesert, Hampton, Mount Barney and Murphy's Creek.
These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast.
They were forecast to affect Beaudesert, Laidley and Gatton by 12.50 pm and Peak Crossing, Amberley and Rosewood by 1.20 pm.
Damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
The next warning is due to be issued by 1:25 pm.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the south-east coast and parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.
