SOROPTIMIST International Bayside is offering a scholarship of $1000 to a woman or girl from the Bayside area to support her studies at a tertiary institution.
Soroptimist International is a global organisation of women, with a focus on educating, enabling and empowering women and girls world-wide.
This scholarship honours Maris King, an eminent Soroptimist and past member of the Bayside club.
Ms King had a distinguished career in the Australian Diplomatic Service and was the first woman to serve as an Australian High Commissioner.
She has a street named after her in Canberra.
The 2020 winners were Hilde Ebersohn, who was working towards her Certificate III and IV in ageing support, and soprano Leah Lever, studying a Bachelor of Creative Arts at the University of Southern Queensland.
For further information and application form, please email sibayside@siswp.org requesting a Scholarship Application Package.
