US President Donald Trump and former first lady Michelle Obama are the most admired man and woman in the United States in 2020, according to an annual survey by opinion-poll specialists Gallup.

Obama was the most admired woman for the third year in a row, while Trump beat Obama's husband, former president Barack Obama, to the top spot for the first time.
Eighteen per cent of respondents said they admired Trump the most, compared to 15 per cent who plumped for the former president.
Not surprisingly, responses were largely split along party lines, with Republicans saying they admired Trump and Democrats leaning towards the Obamas.
Vice-president-elect Kamala Harris came in as the second most-admired woman in the US.
Respondents also named television personality Oprah Winfrey, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Queen Elizabeth II, Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett and climate change activist Greta Thunberg among the top 10 most-admired women.
Away from the top two, six per cent of people who responded to the poll named president-elect Joe Biden as the country's most-admired man, while three per cent voted for the US's top infectious-disease specialist Dr Anthony Fauci.
