SEVERAL infringement notices were handed out on North Stradbroke Island last week after a group of Gold Coast visitors were caught driving recklessly on Main Beach.
Police were called about 6pm on Tuesday after rangers and lifeguards saw six vehicles driving in a restricted area near George Nothling Drive.
They are alleged to have been speeding and doing donuts on the beach.
Rangers issued tickets for reckless driving and permit offences, while police charged a 27-year-old Coolangatta man after he returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.079.
"They discovered pretty quickly that their behaviour is not acceptable and it will cost them," Sergeant Darren Scanlan said.
"This is a good example of local agencies working together in order to keep the community safe."
Capalaba Road Policing Unit's visit to the island last week was a fruitful one, with two people caught drug driving.
The pair, a 25-year-old Point Lookout man and a 34-year-old Dunwich man, were both pulled over on Ballow Road last Thursday.
The Point Lookout local was also issued infringement notices for driving an unregistered and defective vehicle, while the Dunwich man was issued with a ticket for driving with an expired license.
Elsewhere, a 29-year-old Dunwich man allegedly blew more than double the legal alcohol limit after being pulled over by police on Welsby Street.
Sergeant Scanlan said the man, who returned a reading of 0.117, had tried to run the gauntlet and drive a short distance home from a party.
"He put himself and other road users at risk all to save himself a 10 minute walk," he said.
"He is likely to lose his licence for several months so he had better get used to walking."
A total of 18 infringement notices for other driving offences, including failing to wear a seatbelt and speeding, have been handed out by Dunwich police in the last week.
A 24-year-old local woman returned the highest speed of the week, having been clocked at 101km/h in the 80km/h zone on East Coast Road.
Bottles smashed at Dunwich
Police were called to a disturbance at Finnegan Street last Friday and issued two women with infringement notices for drinking in public.
Glass bottles had been smashed on the road and were found a short distance from the pair.

POLICE have slapped a 55-year-old Waterford man with a $400 public nuisance fine.
The man is alleged to have created a disturbance in front of children at the Junner Street ferry terminal on Sunday.
Police visited the scene about 11.15pm.
