YOUTH will take on experience at Redland Bay parkrun this weekend, with six-year-old Harrison Pullin set to complete his first ever run alongside his 75-year-old grandfather.
David Kytic has 56 parkruns under his belt, but said this weekend's event would be extra special.
"Harrison loves his sport," he said.
"I'm really looking forward to running with him."
An avid sport fan, Harrison loves to play football, tennis, golf and cricket, and is a keen runner, swimmer and cyclist.
He is confident he can run faster than his grandfather on the course on Saturday.
"(But) what I'm most looking forward to is running with Papa," he said.
Harrison used his Little Athletics experience to give some tips to aspiring runners.
"Pump your arms, pump your legs, keep your body still, don't talk (and) look straight ahead," he said.
Mr Kytic said the Redland Bay parkrun was a great place for first-time runners, with a family-friendly atmosphere.
"It's not as big as a lot of the other parkrun," he said.
"We all know each other and it's good fun.
"There are a few kids who run. People bring their dogs down. Everyone looks after everyone else.
"It's not competitive- you're running for yourself so I'm always trying to better my time."
Since picking up running in 1973, Mr Kytic has competed in events including City2Surf and had some wisdom to impart for Harrison's first parkrun.
"Don't go too hard around the oval - you'll use up all your energy," he said.
Harrison will be preparing for his run with a dinner of spaghetti bolognaise.
Mum Robyn said the run was a great opportunity for Harrison and his grandfather to spend time together doing something they both loved.
"It's just good fun."
The first Redland Bay parkrun was held in 2017.
