A BIRKDALE man has died after a crash involving a car and a motorcycle at Mount Cotton early on Saturday morning.
Paramedics were called to the site of the crash on Mount Cotton Road at 1.26am, and rushed the 55-year-old motorcyclist to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition with head, chest and leg injuries.
Police said the man died a short time later.
Paramedics took another person to Redland Hospital in a stable condition.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Between the beginning of the year and February 28, 46 people died on Queensland roads, up from 25 in the same period last year.
Of these, 17 were motorcycle riders.
Six of the fatalities occurred in the state's south-east.
