Recent acquisitions from the Redland Art Gallery collection are being displayed for the first time as part of a new exhibition hanging until May 9 at the Cleveland gallery.
To date, the gallery has 750 pieces of 230 artists, representing a diversity of form and wealth of talent.
In opening the exhibtiion on March 28, Mayor Karen Williams said the works were a snapshot into the uniqueness of the Redland Coast heritage,
She also spoke of the gallery's concurrent exhibition, devoted to elder Dr Bob Anderson and entitled Singing Up Spirit of the Land.
This exhibition includes contemporary digital and painted portraits by artist Jo Fay Duncan. The exhibition explores the spiritual meaning to the end of sand mining on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) in 2019.
Dr Anderson said it was the life's journey that counted.
"Anyone who has joined me on my journey has linked theirs with mine and it makes us who we are," he said.
