RPAC launched Act Two on May 13 at Cleveland inviting regular patrons to get a taste of what will be staged from May to August.
The launch was held with an informal chat with Creative Arts Service Manager Brad Rush and Cr Paul Bishop and various show representatives, offering patrons titbits of what is coming up.
Mr Rush said the shows on offer proved that the creative arts was alive and thriving in the Redlands.
Mr Rush spoke with Catherine Lyall-Watson and Caroline Dunphy as writer and director of Rovers, coming to RPAC on July 8 and said the show celebrated their lives as actors.
"There is a deep spirit and an honour in the work. Covid has given us a chance to slow down and see who is around us," Ms Lyall-Watson said.
When asked about combining politics and theatre, Cr Bishop said theatre was a chance to see what was going on and politics lived around the edges.
"The show is always more important than any one individual," he said.
Cr Bishop praised the earlier Stage Sessions and recommended Stage Sessions 2.0 as a "must see".
"We call out to local artists to show us what they can do. This is a space for inclusivity, collaboration and cross pollination and a chance to unlock your creative genius," he said.
Cr Bishop said that with theatre came laughter and memory.
"Keeping artists employed provides a cultural wisdom that gives wealth in spades to the community," he said.
Some shows coming up in Act Two include Are You Lonesome Tonight which combines opera and country music on June 6, the Redland Sinfonia in Stormy Weather on June 12, Women in Voice featuring local vocalist Hannah Johnstone on June 20, Queensland Ballet's Tutus on Tour on July 24, a tribute to Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks on August 7, Karin Schaupp on August 6, Prada's Clutch on August 14 and stories with Jenny Woodward on August 15. Children's performances include The Owl and the Pussycat on June 11 and 12 and Wilbur the Optical Whale on August 5.
The launch was also an opportunity to honour the 2021 'leading lady' Tranka Goodinson of Cleveland who was hailed as the highest ticket purchaser for the centre. Ms Goodinson was given a bunch of flowers to mark her loyalty.
