WYNNUM MANLY will pay tribute to former captain Mitch Cronin during a memorial match against Souths Logan Magpies at Kougari Oval next month.
Cronin, who captained the Seagulls more than 100 times, was found dead in his Brisbane pool last year after a weights session.
He was 27.
The Seagulls and Magpies will play for the Mitch Cronin Memorial Cup on Sunday, June 13, more than one year on from his death.
Seagulls chief executive Hanan Laban said the match would be a celebration in memory of the beloved club man.
"Mitch Cronin was more than a great player, he was a beloved member of our club who made a huge contribution to the Seagulls and its community," he said.
"Sunday, June 13 will be a special day to honour Mitch, and we expect there will be a lot of people wanting to come and pay tribute to him alongside his family, friends, teammates and former teammates."
Cronin made his Queensland Cup debut at Souths Logan in 2011 before moving to Wynnum-Manly in 2016, where he became club captain.
He never played in the NRL but earned caps for the Brisbane Broncos and Canberra Raiders in the Auckland Nines pre-season competition.
Hookers from both sides will wear different numbers for the memorial clash in June, with the number nine jersey - which Cronin wore - to be retired by each team and placed on the first chair of the club's bench.
The teams will walk out together alongside some of Cronin's former teammates and a video of the much-loved former captain is to be played on the big screen.
A minute's silence will also be observed before the round 10 clash, which kicks off at 2pm.
The Mitch Cronin Memorial Cup is set to become an annual fixture for the Seagulls and Magpies.
Wynnum-Manly will visit Redlands a few weeks after the Cronin memorial game for a clash with Northern Pride.
The match will be played at Redlands Rugby League Club's ground at Pinklands Sports Complex on Saturday, July 3 from 3pm.
