Mater Private Hospital Redland has launched psychology and dietetics clinics to offer more holistic locally for cancer patients.
The two clinics will be based at the Mater Cancer Care Centre Redland which already provides oncology services to hundreds of local residents each year.
Dietitians and psychologists will offer bulk-billed and medicare-funded services to support Redlands patients through the physical and mental impacts of cancer.
Psychologist Arwyn Warner said the new clinics will provide critical allied health services for cancer patients.
"Being diagnosed with cancer and undergoing treatment can understandably cause anxiety and stress for patients and their families," Ms Warner said.
"It is essential that patients have access to psychological support if they need it, especially as their mental and social wellbeing can affect their physical condition."
The dietetics clinic will help patients through the weight loss and loss of appetite experienced by many cancer patients.
The clinics will be supported by the Mater at Home service which provides more than 250 home visits in the Redlands each week.
Mater Private Hospital Redland executive officer Carlie Nielsen said the new clinics would be beneficial to locals in the Redlands.
"These new services mean sick patients won't have to travel into the city to get this specialist care and they won't face out-of-pocket expenses if they are referred by their GP," she said.
Patients who wish to access the new clinics must have a referral from their GP.
