Two elderly men who lived at the property were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation after the duplex on Main Road went up in flames at 5.30pm yesterday.
The granddaughter of one of the men said she was told the fire had started in the unit on the right hand side.
"There was lots of smoke, big flames, and the whole place was engulfed in about four minutes," she said.
The men were released from hospital this morning.
Investigators are searching for a missing dog, Buddy, which was in the home at the time of the fire.
The elderly men, Edmond and Henry, are popular in the local community, and concerned locals visited the site throughout the morning.
Friends said Henry's car, still sitting in the driveway, was bought just two weeks ago.
One of the men returned to the house this morning and was comforted by neighbours.
A neighbour said he was concerned about how the pair would get back on their feet.
"It's so hard to get hold of builders around here. It's going to be very difficult for them to recover from this," he said.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the men.
The fire investigation unit is investigating.
